The Battle of Anghiari
A battle between the Florentines, who won, and the Milanese took place in Anghiari on 29 June 1440. Niccolò Machiavelli emphasized how useful Florence's victory was to the future state of Tuscany, giving it a strong hegemony that became the basis for the birth of the state. The consequences of the battle also have an effect on us today: here “the borders of Tuscany” have stayed the same since 1441. Discover the historical and military events of the battle.
